Documents

The adult collection consists of 13 000 documents in French and English, and includes books, books on tape and CD, DVDs, large print books and CD-ROMs. There are documents in every subject. Especially popular are history, biography, cooking, home repairs and art books, as well as the latest in fiction. There is an interesting collection of books by North Hatley's 130 (at last count) 'local authors'.

The children's section of 6 000 titles offers books, books on tape and CD and DVDs for all ages, from picture books for the very young, to fiction and non-fiction for the teen-ager. The Internet and CD-ROMs are also available to the young people.

Internet

There are two computers with access to the internet for the use of the public, as well as high speed wireless internet for those who bring thier own computers

Visits by the Students of North Hatley Elementary School

The Library is available to the students and teachers of the North Hatley Elementary School. Classes visit the Library, enjoy a few stories, and have time to choose books to check out.

Service for the Connaught Home

A part of the collection of large print books is kept at the Connaught Home. The residents can help themselves, and volunteers visit regularly to take books to the less mobile readers.

Seasonal Events

Easter Egg decorating using the Ukrainian technique is very popular among all ages. Workshops are offered before Easter.

Inter-Library Loans

The Library is always happy to borrow documents from other libraries.

Other

Other services offered by the Library include art exhibits, story hour for children in summer, visits of authors, poetry readings and trips to art exhibitions in other cities.

Fees

The annual membership fee for a family is 30 $, for an individual 25 $ (no charge for children).
